Known as the Pipsqueak of the Prairie, these ‘dogs’ are actually a member of the squirrel family. This photograph features the black-tailed prairie dog and was taken at Badlands National Park. Although weighing less than three pounds, the prairie dog can reach speeds up to 35 mph to escape predators.
